2017 can’t wait to meet ya!

Counting the last days of 2016. The year I decided to boost my goals a little extra. I started to do more with my eyes closed and my arms wide open. It got me some awesome gigs like Jazz ’n WordsRadiatorIDFAAfrovibes and Museum N8. Next to my solo gigs I was involved in some collaborations I enjoyed very much. I want to thank my co-poets Sandy, Marly, Zaii, Roos, JNM and last but definitely not least miss drama queen Babs Gons for the magic we made.

As an all round poet works its way trough I too was involved with some cool side projects this past year. We travelled from film events to film fests like the International Migrant & Queer Film Festival with our short poetry film ‘The Thing Is’. Next to it all 2016 brought me my first publication when the Ministry of Social Affairs asked me for their book campagne to create awareness for self-determination in bi-cultural communities.

2016 was also the year I started my workshops at Studio West! I had so much fun doing it that I will be at it in 2017 too! Thank you Studio West for reaching out!

POETRONIC! We came out of the dungeon this year to give you a taste of what was cooking. In 2016 Ci Seryne and I gave a showcase at the Amsterdam Dance Event. OOOOWIEEE! That was something else! It was a starting point for more. SO! 2017 I am sooooo ready for ya! I am up for more creativity, more collaborations, more workshops, more community building, more books, more writings, more spoken word, more music, more film, more Smita James and more Poetronic!

I thank the Universe for all that I receive but more for all that I have to give back in time. We are one, all and infinite! Blessings to you, yourself and your family! NAMASTÈ.

Unward we go!

The busy weeks prior to the ADE showcase are over and yes we had a mega blast! Poetronic is a fact. As Ci Seryne and I have set the tone we can’t wait to let you experience more of us. You can follow our journey if you link up at www.facebook.com/thatspoetronic.

Tic tac I won’t stop! I have joint ventures with Studio West, whoop whoop! As of this month I will be hosting their first spoken word course.
For six whole weeks you and I can be talking and writing poetry before we (read: you) hit the stage. Click here to register and I hope to see you in class.

Last but not least I realized I haven’t updated you about Talentlab! Two months ago I got involved in this project by Bijlmerpark theater. Coached by poet Babs Gons I have worked on a choreopoem together with 5 other poets. Visitors of Afrovibes were the first to have a peek at this collaboration. Dutch writer Christine Otten (known for her book about The Last Poets) had invited us to perform at her “We hadden liefde, We hadden wapens” book release. On the 10th of November we will be performing our choreopoem at request of I speak, a poetry event hosted by poet Gershwin Bonevacia.
